AKIRA
We would like to introduce Akira, a big girl with a big spirit! Akira originally came into the rescue back in 2019 at about five years old. She had been abandoned at a park with a note and some food. Fortunately for her, she found a dad who loved her dearly for the next five years! Akira's dad recently became very sick and unable to care for her any longer. She returned to Houston Cares and has been in foster care since. She has overcome some medical issues concerning her bladder, gained some weight, and spent time being loved on by the five human children in her foster home- she adores them! She is dog friendly, cat friendly, and very human social. Despite being a senior of over 100 pounds, she still has the energy for spontaneous laps around the yard, lazy wrestling matches with other dogs, and a gentle demeanor. She is mostly an oversized couch potato and a very easy-going love loaf. We know senior animals are far less likely to be adopted, so she will be safe and happy here until her furever family comes for her!
